yes. but there are barely any splitscreen games
I’d kill for more modern splitscreen games, especially on PC
https://nucleus-coop.github.io/
I used this to play Minecraft with my girlfriend on my PC and it works alright. I do use it with 2 screens though. There’s other games too but I haven’t tried any.
But yes I do agree there is a severe lack of splitscreens nowadays especially with the hardware we have available now compared to what we used to.
mind naming your top3 splitscreen games atm?
Project Zomboid is my favorite split screen game. Not split screen but shared-screen-coop and tons of fun: Wild Woods, Speedrunners, Demons Crystals, unrailed. I’ll add more if I can think of them. These all have fantastic controller support.
I don’t have many on PC, but basically any TT Lego Game comes to mind, along with Sackboy a Big Adventure and The Escapist 2. That’s like a decent 75% of my splitscreen PC library though lol
hm. splitscreen seems to have peaked ages ago unfortunately. have you tried Blur Racing (archive.org)? that’s what i call prime splitscreen gaming. also borderlands3 on console is mentionworthy.
An FoV slider tag might be a good addition to the camera comfort section; I’ve heard many people say that narrow FoVs can make them motion sick.
I’m still miffed that we still can’t filter for two tags at once in Steam, unless its just me who doesn’t know how to do it. Everytime I filter more than one tag, it just acts more like an ‘or’ rather than an ‘and’.
Augmented Steam does this I believe. Just tried it out and it seemed to work just fine (only things that matched all filters showed up).
But I prefer browsing in the Steam app. Do they have a plugin for the built-in Steam browser?
I don’t think so unfortunately. I just like browsing via my browser. Besides the features of Augmented Steam, it’s handy having my shortcuts and gestures on the browser compared to Steam itself.
Guess I’ll still be waiting for Valve to update their search function. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.
Now do couch co op
They do, though?
There is a “shared/splitscreen co-op” filter option.
Combine that with a controller support filter.
I wish they’d expand on it and have a filter for player count in co-op. I have a game group of five and finding co-op, 5 player games is hard/most of them cap at 4.
The ones that don’t cap at 4 and aren’t requiring high dexterity (i.e. fps) are base building survival games all the way down— which are fine for the most part, don’t get me wrong, I just wish we could find something with the production quality and premise of Outlast Trials.
So far we’ve done: Conan Exiles, The Forest (1 & 2), Astroneer, Core Keeper, Return to Moria, Green Hell (may have been before we were at 4), Demonic, Deep Rock (with a 5 player mod), and a little REPO (which was good, but no progression system yet). I wanted to try Barotrauma but the puppet movement’s a bit janky for me.
I know there’s a third party search engine I can use, but it’s sooo full of junk it’s hard to find anything worthwhile.
Looking forward to The Big Walk, and am keeping an eye on Dune when it comes to consoles.
Do you know about co-optimus.com? Is that the “third party” you mentioned?
I don’t know of anything better. Setting your filter and sorting by user rating is pretty effective. Aside from that I sort by release date and check back every now and then.
That’s the one.
Aside from that I sort by release date and check back every now and then.
I just now noticed they had a toggle for ‘Released,’ so I don’t have to see a bunch of TBD games. I’m just gonna start doing what you’re doing and keep an eye on the list once in a while. Thank you for the tip!
I need a search option for “most obscure controller support” so I can speedrun them with my Dark Souls certified Keytar and 7 piece drum set
But really searching by, and adding more accessibility to games is good, more accessibility is never bad. Glad we’re not listening to capital G Gaaaamers who think adding things to make games easier somehow detracts from their ability to perform (admittedly very cool) frame-perfect dodges or somehow means their practiced twitch perfect shot in CS2 is somehow meaningless because more people can…checks notes play the game
You can rebind controllers in steam or use external tools like x360ce to rebind thing like analog axes to buttons or vice versa
I know there’s a lot of Steam haters out there but simple shit like this is why they’re on top.
Mouse only for certain visual novel games? 😜
Where’s my left hand only filter??
Learn to use a mouse left handed, it’s worth it. ;)
Using your joystick lefthanded is a completely new experience.
Switch between left and right and you’ve got a party!
Nice, the search function, while okay, has always been far too limited in my experience. Can’t wait to check this out.
Really cool to see them add this.
There are probably even more categories they could add but one step at a time.
Reminds me how Diplomacy is not an Option is seriously hard even in the lowest difficulty “walk in the park”, they really should nerf it
Atomic Heart was like that, too. Tons of difficulty options to customize your experience, but no matter what combat always felt like a punishment.
And still not by voiced languages.

Uhh… I think you got the wrong article.
