Hey All,
Currently debating in buying consumer grade hardware vs receiving enterprised hardware.
I know the power draw is what i need to look out for, but besides that, there are other things which got me thinking.
Server hardware is made to be running 24/7. Meanwhile consumer grade hardware isn’t.
For the guys running a consumer grade stack, did you had any problems along? How long are you running it already?
For the guys running Enterprised grade hardware: did you have problems? Most of uw will run older hardware as that is something which we can actually pay, instead of new enterprised hardware…
Are older enterprised hardware more reliable then current consumer grade when running 24/7?
If you didn’t think about power draw & noice, what will your choice be & why? Looking a cluster which i can use long term without to much maitenance myself beside what i am hosting and doing with the machine itself.
