  • Personal opinion here obviously: Mass effect, or at least the first one, was actually surprisingly well written and internally consistent. Kind of like a star trek lite. There was interspecies tension, people expressing feelings on the state of the universe, but also enough moustache twirling to keep it interesting as well. It struck a good balance between that and a decent looter shooter/RPG combo, at least for my tastes.

    The later games lost a lot of that and overly relied on what the first game setup up without expanding much on it, but that first game was just chefs kiss.

    Not saying you’re wrong or anything, more just this is what I personally get out of it.










  • It has been 5 years. Next door has been doing construction for the past 9 months, they have destabilized two of the property border trees that could potentially land on my house. They have literally lashed them to the frame of the house in the meantime at least. So I’m a little biased here haha

    The stress is as bad as you make it usually though. Sometimes you just have to let things be suboptimal for a while to maintain your mental health.





  • Big issue for me is the direction towards incentivised exclusivity. I can tolerate it on consoles (barely nowdays) because you’re paying someone to use your hardware instead of another, and you have to specifically develop for console hardware. That takes time and effort.

    Different distribution platforms do not have such issues, and I don’t want exclusivity anywhere near PC gaming, unless you’re self publishing. Frankly if they weren’t banging on about steam using the industry standard % take, while they themselves are trying to undercut and use garbage tactics, I would have absolutely no problem with them, same as Ubisoft and EA’s garbage store.
