Zigby particularly stood out as annoying to me as it includes its own 2.4ghz physical layer stack which uses the same range as WiFI, which is already overcrowded as hell and relies on some CSMA/CA magic to make even the most apartment crowded area of APs function decently.

I mean, there isn’t really any other choices for unlicensed consumer use? 5GHz is dedicated to WiFi. The sub-GHz bands would be great, as there isn’t a need for much bandwidth, but it’s a huge mishmash of frequencies that would require many different SKUs per device:

I believe if you tell the downloader you have a Nvidia 10-series card then it’ll give you proprietary drivers that still work on newer cards. I have a 10-series and haven’t had these issued fwiw.

I think there’s absolutely a middle ground where someone is currently a danger to society, but they’re capable of rehabilitation. However, we absolutely need to continue that work on the outside once it’s safe for them to be released if we want to reduce recidivism of violent crime.

I’ve used both and found ProtonPlus to be better for my needs. It has way more proton and wine versions available. They also added the feature for steam games to select their proton version from the client as well.

I have a Pro 2 and my only complaint with it with “SteamOS” (Bazzite) is that the back paddles don’t actually work with Steam Input directly. You can program them with the Ultimate Software, but that means they’re stuck only repeating the input of another button on the controller. So if this update brings full Steam Input support that would be awesome, as it would mean you can set all kinds of other functions to them. Plus not having to use a seperate software, and controller-based profiles, would be awesome.

Yea, for sure you can, but you have to go into each games settings one-by-one. In ProtonUp-Qt (seriously, terrible name lol) it’s a list with a dropdown box next to each, the steam deck compatibility rating, and the ProtonDB rating that you can click to go straight to the page for it.

You can select the proton version for steam games in ProtonUp-Qt as well :)

Not super so if you wanna mess around with GE-Proton and stuff. Personally I prefer ProtonUp-Qt though. It’s a terrible name, but way less flashy, which it super doesn’t need to be.

Sure, we don’t build with stone anymore, but there are an incredibly large amount of buildings and monuments built with stone that would last thousands of years, not merely hundreds. That’s really good news about Mt Rushmore though, I’m glad that eyesore won’t be around for many years to come.

Additionally our entire modern civilization would have basically no trace left after a couple hundred years, estimated.
