I still don’t understand what the possible motivation for this is. Most of the other actions are clearly tied to Russian interests or general interference and destruction of US power.
Going after Greenland doesn’t really assist either of those goals. The only thing I can think is trying to get the US into its own Ukraine situation, which I guess makes sense on some level to someone, somewhere.
Controlling arctic routes, especially as more open up with climate change. Also any minerals, oil, gas, etc.
I assumed it was over their natural resources? Greenland has a ton of rare Earth minerals that are going to be key for manufacturing electronics. Basically, he just wants to destroy Greenland for their resources.
Greenland may be one of the last viable options for living during global heat spikes.
Pasting something I posted elsewhere:
I’m convinced that Trump only wants Greenland so that he can say he has an even biglier piece of stolen land than Putin has with Ukraine. It’s all a tiny dick-measuring contest.
Supposing Trump actions are trying to empower Russia, an American/Europe conflict over Greenland, destabilize the region and give Russia the opportunity of being the “neutral” third party that command the zone. Internationally, the US have the most powerful army, but in the Artic, the Russian have way more strength.
I think Trump wants the US to have their own Ukraine and has decided on the scattershot approach, targeting Denmark, Canada, Mexico and Panama.
