I have seen too many times something that is forced cause major damage. The cabinetry looks nice and rather than take the time while it is not at the point of no return to make it correct would be foolish. Sometimes you need to drop back and punt 🤷‍♂️

You need to either open up the wall in that bathroom or on the other side and rough the sanitary line in at the proper height. Don’t fuck around and try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to plumbing, it never works. This shit was figured out long before we got on earth by far more intelligent people than we will ever be

The “value” is the ability to escape from the cycle and exist outside of this world. Self realization is the goal. And to be able to understand the concept on a level that can get a person out of here means repayment of karmic debt that is tied to many previous lives. So by starting to be a good person today maybe in only a few hundred more lives we can become liberated. It’s not an easy game to beat.

It’s said that when we die everything can be accessed, every second of our life so reading the “Tibetan Book of The Dead” ( the great book of natural liberation through understanding in the between) even once we will have a better chance of closing a better life on the path of liberation from suffering.

I had a hard time understanding/ believing any of these concepts. But every question I had seemed to have a reasonable answer

But we do choose the next life. It is far to complicated to explain here. There are many factors in the afterlife that cause bad choices to be made, karmic debt ( which is carried on from many past lives) for one.

We are also reborn on other planets and have all been each other’s relatives in almost every combination possible.

We do remember our past lives but we are reborn into a body that barely functions. We can’t control it in the sense that even a 4 year old can. Rather than that information of our previous life being discussed we forget about it while being presented with our new life and the realization that we are once again trapped in the cycle of birth and death.

Yeah, I know the feeling. It is nice on the rare occasions that we get to meet like minded people in real life ( even on a lemmy thread !) and have genuine conversations that don’t feel like a chess match.

I myself worry that bringing up how some people have been or are being conditioned by advertising and the media of their choice is something they should even be made aware of. It is concerning but I don’t think it is a process that can be reversed.

I have also seen friends " youtube feeds" and they are full of videos that I have seen for years and recognized as absolute garbage instantly and never watched, loaded with advertising in the form of “shorts” or a 15 minute commercial for electric scooters (most likely made by amazon, id be curious to know who funds these so called “content creators”) cloaked as a “review of the top 10 best e scooters of 2025” … And rage bait bull shit.

I have tried to explain to these same people how advertising works and that they may be falling victim to the scam.

They immediately get very defensive (I may be a little abrasive in my approach but I should be grabbing their shoulders and shaking the shit out of them while backhanding them across the face.) and they say something like " well you watch youtube videos blah blah". I explain that while I do watch them I am searching for the video and rarely watch anything that I am not actively searching for to gain knowledge about a project in the real world ; that I am hip to how these apps are designed to keep suckers engaged and even change the way a person thinks.

I remember as a kid being fascinated by some advertising, the color schemes , music etc and realizing how powerful they were. That stupid double mint gum commercial is to this day seared into my brain , it will probably blip across the screen when my power gets pulled.

Advertising is a game of minute, magical calcuculations that when done right are imperceptible and like 3 card Monty or the shell game are very good at separating a dummy from their bread.

An overwhelming portion of the public are just receivers awaiting their next mission and they do not want to know any better and get angry when you point it out. Thinking or having curiosity about anything is just not their bag anymore. Advertising is truly evil because if it did not exist the natural tendency wouldn’t be blind consumption.

I drove 80’s and pre 92’ VW’s up until 2019 and now I’m exclusively driving pre 04 VW’s . They are futuristic to me , heated sats , heat , AC its crazy .

I’ve amassed enough maintenance parts and transmissions to keep me going indefinitely…or until some jackass makes them illegal then I guess I’ll just ride a bike

Since ~2014 I would search reddit before google for information. I’m sure as traffic picks up here it will become a better source.

I’ve only been here a couple weeks myself and the amount of new users has skyrocketed in the last week from what ive seen.

I do miss some of the niche subs over there , some of them are here too but not nearly as much engagement…yet

Seems like a lot of people will be coming from reddit.

Hopefully some of the niche communities get a little more traffic over here. Most of the subs I visited over there weren’t very toxic and i actually referred to reddit over google for info on a variety of subjects. It’s just hard to support the platform at this point it really went downhill since 14 ~16

I jumped over here a couple weeks ago at the request of another redditor and it’s like a breath of fresh air.

I still check out reddit for a couple subs that just don’t have enough interaction over here “yet”.

I’ve mentioned lemmy a couple times over there and got replies like " it’s just too complicated " etc. and now that I think about it they were most likely bots 🤔

Ima go back to the cesspool and investigate
