Someone will see ANYTHING as an attack on the internet. The default interpretation is, “How can this comment be an offense against me and everything I believe in?”

Yeah but we gots fraydum!
Hi, would you like to try Youtube Premium PLATINUM for only another $2.99? It’s EVEN MORE ad-free! We mean it!
Marcus is right, incremental improvements in AIs like ChatGPT will not lead to AGI and were never on that course to begin with. What LLMs do is fundamentally not “intelligence”, they just imitate human response based on existing human-generated content. This can produce usable results, but not because the LLM has any understanding of the question. Since the current AI surge is based almost entirely on LLMs, the delusion that the industry will soon achieve AGI is doomed to fall apart - but not until a lot of smart speculators have gotten in and out and made a pile of money.
Lemmy is now. Followed by reddit, which I visit less and less. And no it doesn’t feel like dual booting, there seem to be so many of the same people here, with the same issues and anger. But I prefer the lemmy UI and absense of ads. The lack of a personal karma total might be keeping at least some of them away.
Better late than never I guess.
meaning even more so
The stats I saw were 81 million in 2020 and 71 million in 2024, but I’ve been unable to find that table, maybe you’re right.
Lemmings gonna lem, but I blame the millions of Dems who stayed home because Kamala didn’t meet their moral purity standards and they refused to be “complicit in genocide”. Cuz everyone knows it’s better to walk over broken glass barefoot than wear uncomfortable shoes, right? If some of the 10 million who voted in 2020 but not 2024 had bothered to show up, we’d be looking at a very different story. Righteous dumbfucks.
Shamma llama dingdong!
Claiming he was attacked by a demon apparently didn’t get him enough attention.
Get your hands off me you damn dirty APE!
So no explanation for the glib comment, just insults. Thought so. I have lots of hobbies, we’re not friends, and I don’t need the trolling - blocking you now bye.
Never thought I would say this but PLEASE let Trump live another 4 years.
Maybe explain your point in English instead of dropping whatever vague hint you think you’re dropping.
“In a world…”
Pretty sure it depends on where you live. My CenturyLink gigabit internet in Seattle is superb, symmetrical up/down, $75/mo. Haven’t had significant problems in 10 or 15 years.
I haven’t looked for math classes but I just found classcentral.com last night. They have an unbelievable number of free classes, like tens of thousands. Seems geared to earning actual certificates etc. but I found tons of computer classes and the one I focused on and watched several chapters was excellent. Very clear and easy to follow. Seems a little hard to find anything TBH - any search returns a flood. But who knows, worth a look.
Nixie tubes - those vacuum tubes that display a single digit or character on glowing wires - were commonplace in the 1950s and 60s but were superseded by LEDs. They’re still made in the Czech Republic, bought mostly by hobbyists to build retro gadgets. I have a few myself that I haven’t gotten around to using.
On reddit I was once literally told to go fuck myself for saying it was a nice day. There are psychotic people everywhere, and I really do agree the solution is just to block them. When someone’s comment to me consists of “You’re an idiot” or some other insult, I generally block them. And no, that’s not how I comment.
