It’s almost like politics touches on every aspect of the lives we live, from the brick we stand in to the air we breathe.
What if I told you that throwing more developers at a problem != that problem getting solved faster?
If it’s within your financial means, please donate to Yuzu
Are you absolutely joking? I’m not donating one cent to those clowns. I hate Nintendo and corporations with a passion, but Yuzu coding their emulator to support an un-release game – and making money off of it – is obviously the most illegal shit. There’s literally no way for emulating a pre-release game to be legal – how would you legally obtain a ROM of that? They did this to themselves. They’re going to way of Bowser rather than other emulators.
Edit: Oh would you look at that, looks like Yuzu settled and is paying Nintendo 2.4 million dollars. That’s weird for a “”“non-profit open source project”“” to do.
sell all my data, they’re all the same

It’s terrible for tech searches too; half of those results are copy-pasted from Stack Overflow. Though that goes for DDG as well.
YouTube still tracks you based on your IP and other environmental variables. Your browser’s user agent alone can tell them something about you. The resolution your screen uses, the speed in which the page loads and many other factors all correlate with certain profile properties.
They may not have your exact name and hometown, but they can definitely generate an indication of income and general area, amongst others.
I mean, the meme doesn’t disprove that. Like, it’s true that the internet did have people saying that. That said, modern social media and their algorithms have made the process (of misinformation) much more streamlined.
I still hope for federation of Threads. I just wanna be on my own non-Facebook server, but be able to communicate with that domain. Like with email.
Ooh, is there a Lemmy c/THE_PACK somewhere?
Hey guys did you know Snorlax is the most comp—
I feel like this is where 3rd party clients can really shine. Offer a good default algorithmic sort, and let users configure it themselves as much as they please – it’s their feed after all.
I’d do it myself if I didn’t have enough work on my plate already lol.
Thing is that is a fixable problem. It’s technologically very possible to set up a simple algorithm to try to get like 3-5 posts max from one community, have them be as recent as possible, and return the most popular ones.
Reddit has a problem that is rooted much more deeply; their CEO.
