I didn’t read this article but yes. I’ve basically stopped using search engines altogether now and use Perplexity. It’s nice to be able to say “that didn’t work, here’s the error” and “double check your work because this is important” and it just…does it. It’s not perfect but it’s miles better than googling up that 5 year old Stack Overflow post with your exact question and zero answers.

This works. If OP has a SIM card (vs esim) then it’s easy to move it back and forth between phones as the problem ebbs and flows. I have a $60 “feature” phone (the non-slang name for them) that sits in a drawer and comes out a few times a year to quell the noise.

Does GtS not support relays? That’s what everyone uses to seed their new instances. I’m on a single user instance and have thousand of posts from hundreds of instances coming in daily.

Re: downvoting; I think it’s just knee jerk reaction to any suggestion Facebook can do anything good. I have the same reaction but, like you, there’s a specific group I belong to that doesn’t exist elsewhere and it’s one of the few groups that isn’t toxic or hysterical.

That’s the app I use. It is nice.

I just find the federated timeline a good way to find new people. Because everyone is stuffed onto the flagship instance, there’s prolly lots on the local timeline. But not so for smaller or newer instances.
