I’ve actually just ordered one for myself as they officially support third party operating systems. I intend to be setting up unraid on it.
Personally a big enjoyer of TravelGeek. Great comedy and very interesting topics. There is no talking though… only subtitles.
I use it in tandem with proton, so the quantity of emails going to iCloud are less, however I’ve not experienced this kind off issue with either.
Generally if a service is going to have issues with SL, it’s at the point when you provide the email that it says it’s invalid (likely due to the domain being on a black list to prevent use of the service)
Having recently moved to Europe due to the political situation and level of threat to me and my family back in my home country, I can definitely say it can work out extremely well.
I now live in the first world where I’m actually cared for as a human being by the laws and regulations.
But ultimately it’s your prerogative to determine the course of action that suites your goals and desires.
+1 for Unraid, as it’s what I use, but truenas I believe has array options which support your plans no problem. It’ll do a similar software raid solution which allows you to modify the drive pool later on.
