20 days agoMore users will hopefully mean more people finding and reporting edge cases which will lead to better software. Open source is great because anyone can improve it and everyone has the changes if accepted by the developers.

4·20 days agoI tried researching this and wasn’t able to find an exact match for your question.
However I can say blocking hate websites and fake news websites helps stop Trump because it’s part of his pillars of support for power.
I think the best one I found so far is this which seems well maintained and current: https://github.com/sefinek/Sefinek-Blocklist-Collection it has a hate category and a fake news category.
Then you can supplement the lists and block the main Trump and Musk websites by searching for Donald Trump for Trump’s websites and block the SpaceX, Twitter, Tesla, Neuralink and Boring Company websites.
The first one I found when searching for this was this blocklist which targets hate websites, propaganda websites and “alt-tech” websites (meaning things like far-right social media) but it’s a little old. It seems they used some kind of automated method to find subdomain names. I don’t know where they would have got this:

I haven’t closely reviewed the domain names on these lists but a quick glance of these lists makes me think it’s overall pretty accurate. If you encounter a website you cannot visit you can always unblock it and create an issue on Github.
Amazon funded Trump’s inauguration, they’ve doubled their advertisements, they mistreat their warehouse workers, for people who don’t use Amazon often you’re paying more money than you’d spend on just paying for shipping on the occasion you need fast shipping or if you don’t need fast shipping you can still get free shipping if your order is more than the threshold which I think depends on your account might be $25 or $35.
Given all these things I really hope no one is subscribing to Amazon prime. I’d highly recommend anyone who uses Amazon prime to cancel it. Being shown advertisements on something you’re paying for is insane. This should be the final straw for any Amazon Prime customer.

For sure, I’d much rather people join Lemmy. I just figured might as well do everything we can to reduce how many people link to fake news and tabloid type website even on platforms we don’t personally use/like. The less traffic those websites get the less ad revenue they get.

Of course, I wish people would be here instead of Reddit. I just figure we might as well try. It doesn’t cost anything to copy and paste and press message the moderators. I doubt moderators would be considered problematic for doing this.
Just so you all know the New York Post is a Rupert Murdoch (same person who owns Fox News) rag. According to Wikipedia it wasn’t profitable from 1976 to 2022 perhaps even loosing up to $70 million a year. The reason why he ran it at a loss for so long is for influence. Prior to Murdoch’s acquisition the “Post was seen to have liberal tilt, supporting trade unions and social welfare”. Now it’s a conservative trash rag.
Please use another source if you can.
Governments should not be using Twitter. They should all move to Bluesky and Mastodon. If you still have a Twitter account please only use it to encourage people to migrate to other platforms. Don’t use it for anything else.

Certainly an interesting statistic but one thing to keep in mind is that Elon Musk has control over the algorithm and he uses it to boost right wing causes. So even if the Twitter has an equal number of users from both sides one side is getting an unfair advantage. It’s really hard to say because there are so many different listings for laptops. Try calculating a spec to price ratio to determine if it’s a good value or not.
Yes, it’s better to move forward a little than to go backwards. When you move forward you can keep moving forward more later. If you move backwards you have to fight for what you lost before you can get more back.
