The Vatican has found itself in the middle of a critical financial crisis, which threatens to jeopardize the livelihood of retired clergy and staff worldwide
It’s too progressive for American Catholics in particular who are currently experiencing a serious identity crisis and infighting because of trumpism. It’s been wild to watch unfold. An archbishop just got excommunicated for schism idk 6mo ago?
It’s honestly wild. Evangelical Christianity and prosperity gospel ideas are pretty much overwhelming Catholic ideas of social justice and community support. Not to mention this new wave of “don’t trust leaders and institutions” doesn’t really jive with the church hierarchy/papal structure. A lot of churches are centering around their priests now as leaders who are also using the pulpit to talk about politics.

I haven’t followed any of that news. Sounds like some fun reading I’ll have to catch up on!
