Ask any teacher how they feel about smartphones in their classes. I have teacher friends who work with teenager 15-18 and they are talking about horrible focus and constant distraction. These kids are hooked on their phones like heroin. If the parents don’t feel like educating their kids on proper smartphone etiquette, it’s up to schools again.

        Porque no los dos?

Let’s do both. Yeah, more teachers are needed and yes, smart phones nmust be banned for younger kids, especially in places like schools. Teach them proper and responsible use

Sure we always need more teachers but you can’t combat phone addiction with more teachers. If the students are unable to focus enough to read 3 pages they sure as shit will not be able to focus on two teachers. Just as a reminder these kinds are in their last 4 years of school, all of them are here on their own accord. The Matura is not mandatory. All of these kids want to go to universities. This is education for white collar jobs.

Why would the students be unable to focus? They’re not allowed to literally stare in their phone during class.

I disagree. Any detox is a good start. However, maybe you want to expand on your idea of how more teachers should just make the problem go away? I, and I think the whole world, would love to hear how sb with a bachelor in education should break the addiction circle dreamed up by multi million tech companies. Phones are made to be addictive and the platforms they provide only focus on maximising the engagement time. I’m happy to hear any other option against that circle that doesn’t boil down to “Don’t engage with them”
