FYI, it’s an acronym: TERF. Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist
Personally, I disagree with Rowling’s views regarding trans women, but it’s unfair to condemn everyone involved with making the game for the IP’s creator’s backwards views, especially since she had no role in its development.
There were hundreds of people who worked on the game, and the game itself went out of it’s way to feature trans characters. I doubt there’s a single AAA game or mass produced product out there that isn’t partially owned by some individual who you don’t want to support, so I think singling out hogwarts legacy in particular to boycott is kind of meaningless.
You could argue that by boycotting it you’re sending a message, and just singling it out as an example, but the game already sold incredibly well and is a huge success. I don’t think there’s any reason at this point that someone who grew up enjoying harry potter and wants to play the game should feel bad about it. Seems silly to deny yourself something you might enjoy over some small change going to a billionaire you don’t like.
jkr is very very rich, and very very actively a transphobe
she VERY actively uses her money to degrade society
“you’re just one person and don’t matter” is not good logic even if it were the logic here, which it’s not, because she’s so rich and powerful.
Honestly, take your head out of your anus and see that you’re justifying doing a shitty thing. She’s got garbage cancer and needs to gtfo. Let the ip die, she ruined it.
You wouldn’t say the same shit if the main proprietor were an ACTIVE Nazi. Or maybe you would also apologize on her behalf? Or does it just take some other level of mental gymnastics to justify your own ambivalence to massive injustices that aren’t at your own expense?
The last AAA game you played is almost guaranteed to have been worked on by at least one racist, trans phobic, radical extremist of some kind. Just something to consider.
Make no mistake, it is currently impossible to engage with the harry potter franchise, at all, without contributing to the dismantling of equality.
I’m not saying don’t play the game if that’s what you enjoy. I’m just saying; you should probably keep it in the bedroom and don’t do it in front of children.
Do those one-off bigots that perhaps lended some labor to said games get royalties for the IP? If not, then this comparison is not even close to valid with a billionaire bigot raking in more wealth based on an IP they poisoned.

Sounds like terf apologia to me.

None of them bought the UK supreme court though.
