About a month ago I was also banned under unusual circumstances

Don’t even bother trying to make another account without appealing the first, the new account will get banned as well.

I just politely asked a mod to clarify a sub rule and got an unappealable sitewide ban for it

Reddit was dead long before this though, even before the 3rd party app ban. I just wasn’t willing g to accept it.
