Exactly, i was spending so much time using vmd and regedit in windows to troubleshoot everyday issues like games crashing or hardware bugs, that I realized “this is what every windows user tells me linux is like”.

If linux breaks 5 or 10% marketshare on hardware surveys, developers will start thinking about the 300-600 dollars they lose every 100 sales simply from disabling anti-cheat on linux.

I’m also on a gaming/graphics workstation rig with nvidia and fedora runs games windows can’t run no longer and overall is more stable when gaming. Only issue is vr and games that are intentionally disabled on linux via anticheat. But they’re slop anyway other than delta force, which is unplayable due to hackers.

I had issues with drivers, like I would have to find them somewhere on the internet, trust a random stranger to download and install them. And even then some things required me to launch drivers manually every single time I wanted to use my hardware.

I had issues with games, constant crashes or some games flat out not working. Some even crashing the entire system occationally.

I had issues where my pc would randomly turn on. Going to sleep was funky and would break the system requiring restart. I had to find drivers for my audio systems to get them running.

I had to run around confusing settings and tweak them through different control panels made by random people that largely overlapped to fix basic issues.

Thankfully those issues were solved the moment I installed linux.

There is nothing to be terrified of for MS, windows can implement mandatory rectal scans to log in and linux wouldn’t break 20% market share.

Personally I don’t give a damn about a pan whose entire life is spent slowly scraping away the carciogen on it and ingesting it with every meal you make. I am however not going to be scammed by the teflon pan manufacturers into buying a new overpriced pan every few years. Every other non non-stick pan outlasts multible generations of humans. A non stick in a professional kitchen won’t even make it to 1 year old.

Elite Dangerous: Best space travel, strap on your VR, put on a virtual monitor playing star trek into your cockpit and stand in awe of how gigantic planets truly are. It has fallen under mismanagement and its mid to late game is terrible. But for the price it’s great.

X4: Space sandbox game from the legendary studio behind… the x series. Fantastic galaxy sim where you can do whatever. Hunt bounties, be poor space trader who converts all their life savings to silicon wafers only to find out nobody is buying them or become ceo of the entire space. Only negative for me is it would be the perfect game if it had open space and orbiting planets and all.

Star Sector: basically mountain blade in space. Not on steam.

Space Engineers: Build your own spaceships and do whatever. The resources are more befitting of an automation game and you can automate.

More niche games: Astrox: Even online but singleplayer. Objects in space: Abandonware that takes an interesting approach to space travel. Delta v: rings of saturn: hardest sci fi space mining simulator around the rings of saturn. Starship EVO: very early access but has the best ship building system I’ve seen so far and ring worlds.

I had ati card on my pc when pentium 4 was all the rage. I literally spent my teenage years learning english in order to get the dumb games I saved up ages for to work without crashing constantly. Its shocking how the same terrible card manufacturer is part of the company that makes the only cpu worth damn and great gpus.

Idk, my steam deck plays all the games I want including ones that don’t work on windows and my fedora does the exact same. People want steam os since they don’t know how good linux has become in a very short time. Your archicad, adobe and games where developers have deliberately disable linux won’t work on steam os same as they won’t work on the good distros, so why wait for steamos?

Most of the world computer hardware is running linux already. Linux is the most popular os by far since all the servers run it. Desktop linux is very new and has gone far in a short time. With more users being lured in (and the windows exodus might be able to lure in the vital tech people) more problems will get solved.

Amd cpu and 4070ti super here without issues. I suspect intel being the usual dumpster fire.

Mine works fine, I knew nothing about linux and all I did was disable secureboot and copy paste some commands into the terminal. Now games that used to crash in windows don’t and games that didn’t run run. And yes spent tons of time scouting forums, going through dumb windows control panels and messing around in regedit to troubleshoot it without a solution.

I am happy going cold turkey to fedora. Windows is the less user friendly and functional experience considering i didn’t even need to scour the internet for my weird audio device or graphics tablet drivers. Also steam uses multible times more ram than the os and my phone messages are on the screen and clipboard gets shared.

As an artist i quit photoshop a while ago cause it was just terrible for anything but indepth photo editing. And now irs terrible for anything since it just steals your art and you pay increasing yearly for it. Without the ability to cancel.

I used rufus as well to get a working install and it worked flawless.

I recently quit facebook due to rampant russian propaganda, unmoderated communities full of far left or far right (same thing really) bots and constant, rampant scams and ai posts. It’s not that platform has it, any platform with 5 digit userbase has them. It is that FB has used it consistently across all their platforms to drive “”“”“engagement”“”".

What are your issues? My problems were games on ntfs filesystem and secureboot. After fixing those two i can say windows is terrible and requires tons of tinkering to get things working as opposed to linux where you just plug it in and it chugs.

If it don’t work on linux cause it was made for windows, fine. Console software doesn’t run on any os natively for example and I aint mad. If it is following the trend of “it works on linux but we ticked a box on our anticheat so it doesn’t” then I am a bit upset.
